- - - - - Weather and Bugs - - - - -
'Way back in mid-March, and through April, I've been making noises about just how nice the weather was - low- to mid-seventies, low humidity, and all that, whilst YOU were suffering through late winter and early spring snow.
Well, now y'all have your revenge.
For the last week, and on into the forseeable future, we in South-East Jawja will be having temps from 85 to 100 (F), with relative humidities right around 95%, with thunderstorms and the chance of the odd hurricane to keep our interest up.
And...bugs. Skeeters, horse-flies, and the dreaded gnat - which is a set of human-loving jaws, with wings.
Gnats are the prime predator of South-East Jawja. They carry off small dogs. They defeat grown men, and drive them sniveling into air-conditioned fortresses (God BLESS the name of Carrier the Great, who defeated 90/90 with the blessed invention of Air Conditioning, AMEN!)
Well, I'm attempting to fight back against the Flying Jaws.
I have acquired, after due consultation, a device that entices the Flying Jaws, and Skeeters, into it's fiery maw, there to be lured into a finely meshed bag, there to await my Imperial Pleasure.
This thing runs on propane, which evidently puts out enough CO2 to attract the gnats and skeeters into it's trap. There's also a bait thingie which will lure the flying bugs-with-jaws. It's supposed to affect 1/2 to 3/4 of an acre, which will cover the back yard of The Swamp very nicely, thank you.
If it works.
I'll keep y'all posted.
