Well, the BRAC list is out. Looks like OWW's little corner of SE Georgia is going to pick up some military jobs if they really do close down the sub base in Connecticut.

Senator Leiberman is, understandably, upset, and swears he's going to keep that base open.

I actually have a certain amount of sympathy for keeping that base open. From the beginning, it has been the home of the US Submarine force. There's a ton of history and tradition there. Every submariner I've ever spoken to has been to New London at least once.

On the gripping hand, having a squadron of fast attacks move into King's Bay sounds like a pretty good deal for Camden County, GA.

In other news on the job front, OWW is giving up the part-time job at LHITWCS (Little Hole-In-The-Wall Computer Store), because I can't afford to keep it. Full-time child-care expenses over the summer would run twice what I make at LHITWCS (Little Hole-In-The-Wall Computer Store). My part-time gig for the SGO (Small Governmental Organization) can be flexed around the schedule of a neighbor who not only is willing to ride herd on The Wrecking Crew, she actually likes them.

And...right out of the blue, I got a call from a temp agency that wants to submit my resume to a local forest products company for a "6 to 12 month contract". Hmmm.... I'll have to think on that one, if an offer materializes. There's advantages and disadvantages. We'll see.

Finally, nothing bad happened here at The Swamp on Friday The 13th!
