While reading Jerry Pournelle's mail section, I found a link to an Englishman who has determined that he's going to (gasp!) break some really dumb laws here in the US. Here's the link to the story. One of the links in that story leads to the DumbLaws.com.
Of course, I looked up where I live. The closest dumb law to my house is actually in St. Marys, which prohibits spitting on the sidewalk after dark. For all of Georgia, I think that "It is illegal to use profanity in front of a dead body which lies in a funeral home or in a coroners office." is right up there in the Dumbness Scale.
I then decided to check out San Jose, Calif, where I used to live. "It is illegal to have more than two cats or dogs." For all of California, the dumbest I saw was "Animals are banned from mating publicly within 1,500 feet of a tavern, school, or place of worship."
