- - - - - A Response from Anheuser-Busch - - - - -

Back on Feb. 7th, I posted about the "Applause" commericial showing our Armed Forces returning from ...somewhere. I also dropped a comment on their "Heroes Salute" page. See the ad HERE, if you haven't yet.

The next day, I received this reply to my comment:

Dear OWW,

Thank you for taking the time to contact Anheuser-Busch, and for your service in the USN.

Our commercial titled “Applause” that aired during the Super Bowl is a heartfelt message from our company to say thank you to all military personnel for the sacrifices they make for our country. Actual military personnel from a variety of branches appeared in the commercial that was filmed in mid-January at Los Angeles International Airport, as well as a mix of actors and bystanders who portrayed travelers in the airport.

Anheuser-Busch has many employees who are serving in the military or who have family members and relatives in the service, and we’ve supported the U.S. armed forces for nearly 150 years. On the day of the big game, we threw a Super Bowl party for more than 1,000 troops in Fort Bragg, N.C., as another sign of our appreciation for their efforts. As part of the “Heroes Salute” program, Anheuser-Busch is offering military and three of their family members free admittance to our SeaWorld and Busch Gardens theme parks for the remainder of the year. More information is available online at www.herosalute.com.

Again, OWW, thank you for taking the time to contact us and share your thoughts!

I still maintain that Anheuser-Busch is a class act. And, although Bud isn't really to my taste, on the strength of the email that I received (yeah, it's a form letter. So What? They went to the trouble of composing it, and sending it. That's a damn sight better than most other companies do.), today I'm going to get another six-pack of Bud, and contribute a little to their bottom line. Why? That's easy - any company who makes a concrete, corporate effort, AND backs it up with a cash outlay gets a little support from me.
