- - - - - Old Wierd Ward's Opinions - - - - -

The Civilized World has been waiting for me to speak on the Important Issues facing America. As I come up with more, I'll post 'em.

1. Gay Marriage - Who cares? Not me. I'm oriented towards women. The rest of you? Pfft.

2. Gun Control - Not good. Wouldn't YOU be polite if you suspected that Oscar Milquetoast might be armed? Related: Bring back the formal duel. Politeness would really count.

3. Abortion - I'm male. I can't get pregnant. I should have a voice in this matter? Naahh.

4. Drugs - The War On Drugs is and has been an abysmal failure. Legalize 'em all. We'd soon find out who the idiots are. The death toll in the first two years would be horrendous. But the dummies would kill themselves off, the money would go out of drug running, and we'd all be better off. See what happened when Prohibition was enacted, and later, repealed.

5. "Women's Rights" - Should be the same as "Men's Rights". Call 'em "Citzen's Rights" or "Civil Rights" - no more, no less.

6. "Hate Crimes" - A crime is a crime is a crime. Period. "Hate Crimes" as defined are discriminatory and, in my view, un-Constitutional. See #5 above.

7. Helmet Laws for Motorcyclists - See #4 above.

8. The Draft - No way, no how. I did my time in the USN to avoid the Army. But I got news for youse - I probably would have done a term in the Navy anyway - I just wanted to go to sea.

9. Diversity Training - I've been to a lot of different places, and met a lot of folks with different ways - and got along with all of them. So why I should I go through mandatory diversity training?

10. Manners Training - Judging by some of the folks I've met in California, Mandatory Manners Training would be a good idea - in California. I've been in Georgia for over a year, and nobody has been rude to me yet. Either I'm mellowing out, or the folks here in Georgia are just plain polite.
