- - - - - Christmas In The South East - - - - -
We went down to Cocoa, FL, to Bro-In-Law Brian's house for Christmas.
Our neighbor boy Kevin very graciously took care of The Ferocious Beast and the Vicious Fishies. Kevin's a good kid, and utterly goopy about doggies. This is a Good Thing, because the Ferocious Beast (who isn't, really) thinks that Kevin is a wonderful play-time companion who also gives her food. The moral of that story is: "Bribe the doggie with food - she will think you are Wonderful, and greet you with The Great Happy Bark and Dance."
We all had a very good time. Moo-Bear (10) and Meelie-No (6) got to hang out with cousins Mikey-T and Danny, collect good hugs and kisses from Poppa and Grammie, and major playtime with Muncle Michael and Uncle Brian. PLUS... loads of Good Christmas Plunder, and lots of good Christmas food.
Come to think of it, Mrs. OWW and I collected loads of Good Christmas food, and good-for-grownups Watching the Kids Roll In The Fun of Christmas Morning.
We drove back up to The Swamp this afternoon, and had some more of the Christmas Good Stuff here.
This was our first Christmas after hurricanes, and after moving into The Swamp.
We are blessed with good health, good friends, family (relatively) nearby, and the greatest country on earth in which to live.
God Bless Us, One And All.
- - - - - Christmas In a Far Away Land - - - - -
On Christmas Day, in 1942, 1943, 1944, and 1945, my Dad was far from home and family, in a strange land, in the Army.
On Christmas Day, 1947, 1948, 1949, my Father-in-Law was far from home and family, in a strange land, in the Marines.
On Christmas Day, 1972, I was far from home and family, in a strange land, in the Navy.
Have a thought, this Christmas season, for all of our young men and women who are, in this Year Of Our Lord 2004, spending their Christmas season among strangers, in a strange land that is far, far away. God bless 'em and keep 'em, each and every one.
