- - - - - The Quiet Life - - - - -
Just about 20 minutes ago, at 9:30PM, I wandered outside. The kids are sleeping, and I'm yawning, and in the middle of one of those jaw-popping yawns, I noticed, once again, just how quiet it is around here.
No airplanes flying overhead. No screech of sirens. No streetlights. None of the background hum you get in big cities.
There is a faint rumble of truck traffic on US95, just about three miles away - but that's it.
We've lived here since February, and I'm still not quite used to just how quiet it is. I'll just have to work harder at it, I guess.
It sure is different from San Jose, CA...
