- - - - - Public Schools and Taxes - - - - -
It would appear that some school districts are so busy buying off the Teacher's Union that they don't have any funds left over to buy textbooks.
Now, it's bad enough that I have to review my kid's Social Studies text book to make sure that the most egregious stuff gets corrected by Yours Truly. But...to have to pay extra for books?
I know how much I pay in property taxes - which is what supports the school system around here. If I also had to pay for books (which I have to review to make sure that they're more-or-less accurate), I'd be making a Large PITA of myself down at the school board.
A tip-o-the-hat to The Acid Man for this one....
