- - - - - Xandros vs Windows - - - - -
Here at The Swamp, OWW is and has been busily thrashing Xandros as a possible replacement for Windows 98/2000/XP. Actually, the XP part is misleading - it isn't on any system at The Swamp, and isn't likely to be, either. Just that silly activation thingie is enough to kill XP as far as I'm concerned.
Anyway, I've now got to the point where my main box is run by Xandros rather than Windows. Xandros, which is based on the Debian distribution of Linux, has shown itself to be more reliable than Windows 2000, just as fast, and with the CrossOver Office add-in, able to run any of the Microsoft Office applications.
Installation is a snap, and it just....works - no muss, no fuss.
Highly recommended by OWW.
Find out about it HERE. And no, they didn't pay me a dime, and I paid for Xandros out of my own pocket.
