On this day our brothers and sisters died at the hands of people who hate us.

These were people who were living and working for the American Dream.

The Dream isn't really about money. It isn't really about status. It isn't really about "a better life".

The American Dream is about freedom. Freedom to dream, and to reach for those dreams. Freedom to speak your mind. Freedom to worship as you choose, or not, as you choose. Freedom to succeed or fail, on your own terms.

They don't like freedom. They want to direct your thought, your mind, your religion in their own narrow path. For that alone, they hate us.

It isn't important why they hate us. It is enough that they will kill themselves to kill a few of us.

I grieve for the people working in the World Trade Center. I grieve for the people working in the Pentagon. I grieve for the passengers and crew in the airplanes.

I honor those cops and firemen who went up, while the Trade Center was coming down. Heroes, every one.

I honor the valiant people of Flight 93, who fought back. Heroes, every one.

This is a day that I will always remember.

I will pause for a moment, and offer a prayer for the dead.

I will offer a prayer for our sons and daughters in the Armed Forces.
