(Oops! This was supposed to be posted Sept 7th. My bad.)

Frances came ashore and waltzed all over some folks. Others got off fairly lightly.

Bro- and Sis-in-law Brian and Michelle started the drive down to Cocoa, FL yesterday afternoon at about 2PM. After arrival at their place in Cocoa at 10:30 (normally, a 3-hour drive), they called and reported that:

1. Their house appears to be structurally sound - a few missing shingles is all they could see. They'll take a closer look in daylight.

2. A puddle of water underneath the refrigerator - to be expected after a few hours of no power.

3. Power has been restored to their neighborhood, so the A/C is working - that's a Big Deal when the night-time temps are near 80F with 90% humidity.

Mom- and Pop-in-Law are still resident at OWW's place (AKA The Swamp). The condition of their house in Cocoa Beach is not yet known. Cocoa Beach has the Atlantic Ocean on the east, the Banana River on the west, and is accessed by causeways from the mainland, through Merrit Island, thence to Cocoa Beach. You can see the lay-out on Yahoo Maps.

Mom- and Pop-in-Law are considering making the drive back tomorrow in the AM. They'll stay with Brian and Michelle until such time as they can move back into their place in Cocoa Beach.

Here at The Swamp, we're still getting copious amounts of rain. The wind has decreased a lot, so now we're just a little soggy. Damage here has been 1 (one) small tree limb broken from a small tree in our back yard.
