- - - - - OWW Is A "Neo-Con"? - - - - -

According to this quiz at the Christian Science Monitor, OWW is a neo-con!

That's news to me. I take exception to two points in the definition of "neo-con" below.

1. I do not want an American Empire. An "Empire" would be an unmitigated PITA.

2. I do not "Share unwavering support for Israel". I have in the past, and will in the future, comment unfavorably on any stupidity they might commit/advocate. For instance, the presence of "settlements" in Gaza was and is "stupidity" for obvious reasons.

Anyway, here's the CS Monitor's definition of Neoconservatives…

* Want the US to be the world's unchallenged superpower
* Share unwavering support for Israel
* Support American unilateral action
* Support preemptive strikes to remove perceived threats to US security
* Promote the development of an American empire
* Equate American power with the potential for world peace
* Seek to democratize the Arab world
* Push regime change in states deemed threats to the US or its allies

Historical neoconservative: President Teddy Roosevelt
Modern neoconservative: President Ronald Reagan

If OWW has to have a label, being lumped in with TR is pretty good. I'm not so sure about Ronald Reagan though - I had personal reasons for not being too fond of the guy.
