So, the NY Times finally comes clean with respect to political bias in the news-room. So tell me, who's surprised?
When asked who would be a better president, the journalists from outside the Beltway picked Mr. Kerry 3 to 1, and the ones from Washington favored him 12 to 1. Those results jibe with previous surveys over the past two decades showing that journalists tend to be Democrats, especially the ones based in Washington. Some surveys have found that more than 80 percent of the Beltway press corps votes Democratic. |
Bias in the ranks of the reporters?
I'm shocked, simply shocked!

Back in the '70's, I read Future Shock, by Alvin Toffler. I thought he was a little out there, but definitely gave food for thought.
Be damned if he wasn't mostly right.
Then I actually bought, in hard-back, The Third Wave. That one really influenced me, and if you haven't read it yet, why not? It's a classic, and it is Right On The Money.
I've just started reading Power Shift. It's already made an impression. And yeah, I'm a little late on this one. I plead the exigencies of a very busy life.
Toffler is one of the pre-eminent social thinkers of the 20th and early 21st centuries. He's at least as good as Jared Diamond, author of Guns, Germs, and Steel.
In fact, if you don't have Guns, Germs, and Steel, along with The Third Wave in your personal library, you're a cultural illiterate. Future Shock is optional, and OWW's opinion of Power Shift hasn't been formed yet.
