I now have an installation of Xandros Linux Version 2 Business running on my main box. I actually bought it, through their website, mainly because Robert Thompson installed it one of his machines, and was able to install and run MS Office. I installed Xandros right out of the box without even looking at the docs, using the manly technique of "Run it 'till it breaks, then look at the instructions."

And it just ...... installed. And it works. I can log in using root or my own account. Mozilla just works. Star Office just works. My antique HP540 printer just works. No muss, no fuss, no bother.

I installed MS Office to test the CrossOver Office component. Office just...... installed. And MS Word just works, fonts and all. Access launches. Excel launches. Powerpoint launches.

I'm going to use Xandros for a few days, then I'll give you an update.

We may have a competitor for Microsoft XP here, folks. At $125 and none of that ridiculous "product activation" nonsense (vs $399 for XP Professional) this is a very attractive deal.
