- - - - - It Ain't Really Real - - - - -
We have been here in Georgia since November/December of 2003. We've been resident in The Swamp (our house is located between the Cane Swamp and the Crooked River - and no, I'm not kidding) since February of this year.
Long enough, you would think, for me to become comfortable, and get the feeling that I am "at home" in our house.
Mostly, that's the case.
But every once in a while, about two or three times a week, I'll have what I call a "dis-location moment", in which Old Weird Ward looks at (fill in the blank here) and has the horrid moment of "this isn't really real, is it?"
Like today, when it rained cats, dogs, and toads for about 1/2 hour. You see, in San Jose, California, where I lived for 28 years, it hardly ever rains in June. So far, here in Camden County, Georgia, it's rained hard, with thunder and lightning, for fifteen days this month.
So, it's raining to beat the band, with thunder and lightning, when I pull up into the driveway, and the house doesn't look like I expect it to. I expected to see that crappy town-house we lived in while we were in San Jose, what I saw was the very nice house we have here in Georgia.
Very strange ....
