Deborah Kelley of Olympia said she plans to file a complaint with the school district and notify representatives of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Kelley, whose daughter and stepgranddaughter witnessed the classroom discussion, said she expects an apology from the district and some type of disciplinary action against the teacher.
"I am so mad," she said. "I have taught my children not to say that (word) at all. It is totally inappropriate. ... I don't send my daughter to school to hear that kind of language."
