- - - - - Discussing ALL of John Kerry's Faults - - - - -

As Mrs. Du Toit (see her article HERE) points out, the Viet Nam Experience was just that: an Experience you had to have happen around YOU, in order to get the point of it all.

Her husband, Kim Du Toit, immigrated (legally) from South Africa to the US in 1986, well after Viet Nam. He just doesn't "get it". Anyone who is now less than forty-four years old just won't "get it". You had to be totally immersed in US culture to understand the impact of the war.

Those of us who were here, and are old enough to "get it", have visceral reactions to the current US security situation. Those reactions vary from person to person, and are frequently in opposition.

For instance, my good friend Clint, whom I've known for thirty years, holds some views that are diametrically opposed to my own. Yet we are both agreed on one important thing - the same sort of turmoil of the late 60's and early 70's would be a Bad Thing for the country.

Mrs. Du Toit also points out the historical record (that's verified HISTORY, not conjecture) of the Democrats' behavior in politics since at least the election of 1960.

Briefly:

1960 Presidential Election: Stolen for John Kennedy by Mayor Richard Daley of Chicago. Richard Nixon does not contest the election, "for the good of the country".

1963 - 1968 Lyndon Johnson, working with J. Edgar Hoover (Director of the FBI) had something on everyone who mattered, thereby silencing/co-opting darned near every politician of note of the time.

1992 - 2000 Bill Clinton gets a pass every time he lies, including an impeachment. The big question is "Why didn't the media do the jackal pack thing with Bill Clinton the way they do with George Bush?"

2000 Al Gore contests the Florida vote count. He loses in court, and the Democrats promptly howl that Bush "stole" the election. A month later, a complete recount of the contested votes shows that Gore did indeed lose. Democrats ignore facts, continue to howl that Bush "stole" the election.

So, let's look at the above record.

And you think that I'm going listen real hard to Kerry? Not without taking a close look at his record I'm not. The record does count, and Kerry's voting record in the Senate is part of that record. Kerry's actions/medals in 'Nam do count. The whole record counts.
