- - - - - Kerry Steps in "It" - - - - -
The political silly season continues.
Senator Kerry has discovered that uttering even the most innocuous of phrases can get you into hot water with thin-skinned ethnic groups.
The current philosophy among Presidential candidates is to be a "something President". For instance, "Education President".
Kerry earned the ire of various civil rights activists by saying that he'd like to be the "second black President". See the story HERE.

Had a little problem last night with our DSL router/switch. This gizmo has a router on the DSL side for the DSL line, and a four-port switch on the other side for up to four PC's, plus it's supposed to be "wireless ready".
Mrs. OWW couldn't get Yahoo to show up in her browser. So I tried it - same result. Couldn't ping Yahoo. Couldn't ping the DSL router/switch at 192.168.0.1. Hmmm....sounds like time for a resest - power-off for ten seconds, turn the power back on, and....PRESTO, all is good.
If this continues, I think I'll haul out our old DSL modem, and seperate router w/4-port switch and give them a try.
- - - - - Law of The Sea Treaty - - - - -
Never heard of it? Neither did I, 'till one of the sites that I visit regularly brought it up.
See the story HERE.
In short, the LOST (Law of The Sea Treaty) empowers the UN to administer, regulate, and tax the open seas. That includes some things that are critical to the security of the United States, like undersea transit by submarine, and intelligence gathering.
This is Not A Good Thing. In particular, it is not good for the security of the United States.

Disclaimer: I don't know Martha Stewart. I've seen parts of her show from time to time, and I always changed the channel to something that I wanted to watch.
Martha Stewart was not convicted of insider trading. She was convicted of lying to "Federal Investigators".
Hmmm....let's see here. Was she under oath at the time? Was she informed of her rights before being questioned? I suspect not.
The lesson for the rest of us? Do not, under any circumstances, answer any questions posed to you by "Federal Investigators" until you have your lawyer sitting right next to you.
