Went down to help my Father-In-Law celebrate his 76th birthday. The place was crawling with six grand-children from 12 down to 5, all delivering hugs and kisses to him. He absolutely had a blast, and we enjoyed kidding him about being the "birthday boy".
One of the more interesting things that happened was the block party that their neighbors threw. Almost every family on their cul-de-sac showed up. There was more food than you could shake a stick at, soft drinks, and a keg of Foster's. Since we're contemplating the same sort of thing up here in GA, I took every good idea I could see. I'll file off the serial numbers and claim them for my own. Yep, I'll be a legend in my own mind....

Interesting article at Tech Central Station about the current status of what's known as the "blogospere" HERE.
...if only about two percent of Internet users actually write Weblogs, it means that there are more bloggers writing, than people reading USA Today (whose circulation is 2.6 million), The New York Times (1.6 million) or The New York Daily News (805,000).
That is an interesting thought. The first "blog" was Jerry Pournelle's site (HERE), starting in 1998. He referred to it as his "daynotes", or a daily notebook of stuff that interested him, that he was working on, or that he felt needed commentary. I doubt that he ever imagained that 2.6 million of us would be doing this sort of thing, six years later.

There is now considerable suspician that Al-Quaeda had a hand in the dreadful bombings of Madrid. See the story HERE. And now the government of Spain has been changed.
I am still of the opinion that if the Spaniards can find out exactly who did this, if the perpetrators are located in another country, that country will find some extremely public bodies laying about here and there.
