I've had a few days to cool down a bit.

I'm still mightily annoyed by John Kerry.

Honorable service in the military, with gongs and ribbons, that's fine. You Done Good.

Actions and votes in the Senate AFTER your service are fair game. For anyone. Especially if you are running for Prez. YOUR record, your PUBLIC record, is open for discussion, debate, and dissection.

Shucks, as a voter, it is my duty to scrutinize your record, compare it to my leanings, and vote accordingly.

If you can't handle that, you shouldn't be running.

For a long time, I've sworn that I'm not gonna get into the middle of this.

I guess that's ducking the issues.

So here it is, OWW's take on the Great Race Issue:

I hereby declare in public that I oppose discrimination of any kind. I oppose the KKK and their ilk. I oppose quotas. I dislike "affirmative action" because it's a quota system. I oppose preferences of any kind.

I do a slow boil when I hear about so-called "hate crimes". Whites are the ones indicted for "hate crimes", right? When was the last time you heard of any non-white person being indicted for a "hate crime"?

Reparations? I'm opposed. I didn't keep slaves. No one in my family kept slaves. No one living kept slaves. Yet I, as a tax-payer, am supposed to pay "reparations"? Not a chance.

Hate speech? If I was working, I could be fired for any derogatory comment about anyone "of color", whether it was justified or not. Nope, can't say "creep" or "weirdo" about someone of color. Can't mumble "idiot" or "lame-brain" under your breath, even if it's fully justified. You think not? If you're in a medium to large corporation, take a look at the "thou-shalt-nots", if you can. Of course, if you ask HR about them, at the least you're going to get the fish eye - they're going to want to know who you are, and why you want to look at The Words You Must Never Say About Any Minority Person For Any Reason.

And if I were a politician, as is Rep. Brown (D - Jacksonville, FL), I'd be publicly castigated, and probably expelled from the House.

- - - - - Conservative or Liberal - - - - -

Am I a "liberal", or a "conservative"?

Hmmm....good question.

How about a definitive essay on what I believe?

After a careful reading of the Constitution of the United States, including all the Amendments (including that ass-hatted 18th - Prohibition), I find that I agree with all of them, except the 18th.

I believe in the Constitution.

I believe that "all men are created equal" applies to everyone. What you make of your equality is up to you.

I believe in the ideal of "America" - that anyone can live here, can come here, and make good by their own efforts. That we really do, as a people, try to live up to our own ideals, such as "equality under the law", "liberty and justice for all", and "...brotherhood, from Sea to Shining Sea".

I believe that an informed electorate, given any kind of choice at all, will make the correct decision more often than not.

I believe that crooked public servants deserve a public flogging. If we give you power and all the trappings, you should give us honesty. This the "felony stupid in public" category, such as accepting bribes, etc.

I believe that stupid public servants deserve to get voted out of office. No more, no less. That includes "misdemeanor stupid in public" offenses, such as DUI, adultery, etc.

I could go on, I guess, but it would all be as contradictory, and as fuzzy and non-specific as the stuff above.

Makes me an American I guess. But "Liberal"? "Conservative"?

Beats the tar out of me!
