Part of the good Senator's record after leaving the Navy is his position statement from his 1984 campaign for the US Senate. See it HERE and HERE.
Summary: He was against Aegis cruisers, Tomahawk cruise missiles, Patriot anti-missile defenses, AV8 Harrier jets (used by the Marines for close support), battleship re-activation, F15 Fighter aircraft, F14A and F14D fighter aircraft, MX missile, Star Wars program, and other programs. Some of those programs were cancelled due to cost over-runs, some were cancelled due to technical non-feasability. Most are current weapon systems that are performing very well indeed.
Yes, Senator, I damned well DO question your record. It shows that your judgement ain't so hot.
