Jerry Pournelle makes a valid point about the Transportation Safety Agency, beauracracy in general, and the syndrome known as "preparing for the last war". See his take on it HERE.
The thing I don't like about the TSA is that you, as a traveler, may be detained, without justification, on ANYBODY's say-so. Annabelle TSA Flunky is having a bad armpit hair day? "Joe Smith made a bad joke, so lock 'im up so's I can feel better!"
Quote from Pournelle's post for Thurs: "The purpose of TSA is to pay itself, and to intimidate passengers, and get us all scared as hell, not of "terrorists" but of being sent to jail for 15 years for saying the wrong thing. Or for that matter being accused of it. Speak up, don't mutter..."
