Sorry about the weekend hiatus. I have a cold that knocked me flat for the first couple of days. Not a good thing, with two kids running about...

- - - - - The Great Move - Why I'm Glad We Did It - - - - -

Dan Gillmor of the San Jose Mercury News makes a succinct summary of why I'm glad we left California (See it HERE).

California has been in political chaos at least since 1992. Starting with the Great Power Crisis in 2001, California went into political and economic melt-down.

Great weather, beautiful scenery, dismal job prospects, and rising prices for every durned thing.

Georgia is having it's own budget problems, but at least the Gov, the Senate, and the Reps are sorta working together, in a semi-civil fashion, to figure something out that won't require mortgaging everyone's future taxes for a quick fix that isn't a fix at all.

Georgia's big issue, politically speaking, seems to be the State Flag, which has a section in it that is the battle flag of the Confederate States. As I understand it, there's going to be a referendum on whether or not the flag gets changed. I could be wrong - if so, please correct me. I haven't been here long enough to have any opionion on the state flag. I've seen one, once, I think. More to the point, I don't really care one way or the other. After all, the Civil War's been over for 150 years or so.
