- - - - - Net Access and The Big Move - - - - -

For the last month and a bit, We've been working with an older (266Mhz) Toshiba laptop, given to us by a relative (Big "Thanks" to Connie and Ray) and a dial-up account.

We got spoiled for the last two years we were in San Jose. We had a DSL line, and Mrs. OWW and I got used to web sites that displayed almost as fast as we could click a mouse.

I now remember how my eyes popped the first time that we accessed the 'net using that DSL account.

So, I love my dial-up account, because it allows me some kind of access.

And, I hate my dial-up account, because it is so blasted slooooooowwww. The "World Wide Wait" indeed.

Some Iraqi pilgrims making their journey to Mecca have some nice things to say about the United States. See the whole story HERE.

This story, which I saw buried fairly deep in the Georgia Times-Union, should be of interest to most Americans. Freedom of Religion is one of the Big Deals.

I wonder how come it got buried so deep? Did it even show up in other dead-tree editions of other newspapers? Feedback to Ward_G1@Yahoo.com, please!

JEDDAH (Reuters) - Joyful Iraqi pilgrims arriving in Saudi Arabia on Sunday said they would thank God for ending the rule of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) in prayers during haj pilgrimage but other Arabs were thinking of the U.S. occupation.
