I have no idea why italics turn on, but they won't turn off.
I'll figure it out sooner or later. Probably later.... sigh...

There was a big rally in Baghdad, by about ten thousand Iraqis, of all political persuasions. This took place on Wednesday. What was note-worthy here was that the rally was against terrorism, against the Saddam loyalists, and for the presence of the occupying troops.
Why is this important?
It shows that the "insurgents", the left-overs of the previous dictatorship, don't really have that much support in the general population.
It shows that the general population, at least in Baghdad, is losing it's fear of the Baathists and other Saddam loyalists.
And it shows that Iraqis are now starting to believe that they can be a free people, unafraid to voice their opinions, and demand, in a loud voice, that the "insurgents" cease and desist.
In the same story, the Iraq Governing Council announced a special tribunal to prosecute people charged with war crimes. The tribunal will be an Iraq-only operation.
There were also mentions of the USAF C-17 transport airplane that took a missile hit, and in Northern Iraq, two US soldiers were killed, and four wounded. Those news items should have been a seperate story. And...at the end of the story, there were two paragraphs about why the UN isn't returning to Iraq any time soon. That should have been a seperate story.
And finally, the story was buried on page 14A of the paper version of the San Jose Mercury-News.

The following is shameless plagiarism (I peeled it from the site put up by Mr. Green, who is absolutely insane. See his stuff HERE.)
Another site is claiming to have Paris Hilton pictures, but in fact only had pictures of the Hilton hotel in Paris. It seems to me that having a blog entry implying pictures of the Paris Hilton sex tape when you do not have pictures of the Paris Hilton sex tape is more than a little cynical. Trying to jump on the Paris Hilton sex tape bandwagon is just a cheap stunt, and this blog would never imply that it had pictures of Paris Hilton having sex if it did not, in fact, have pictures of Paris Hilton having sex. (It doesn't.)
This blog would also never make repeated mention of the Paris Hilton sex tape in order to attract attention to itself, because it is the opinion of this blog that such stunts are every bit as tacky as the Paris Hilton sex tape.
Nor would this blog ever claim to have pictures of Anna Kournikova and Britney Spears engaging in lesbian sex acts, because as far as this blog knows, there are no pictures of Anna Kournikova and Britney Spears engaging in lesbian sex acts. (Talking about the pictures here. As far as this blog knows, Anna Kournikova and Britney Spears frequently engage in lesbian sex acts but just don't take any pictures. This blog can't prove it one way or the other.)
A little integrity, people. That's all we're asking for.
