At New York's Kennedy Airport today, an individual, later discovered to be a public school teacher, was arrested trying to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a set square, and a calculator. Attorney General John Ashcroft believes the man is a member of the notorious al-gebra movement. He is being charged with carrying weapons of math instruction...

See the rest of this one HERE. Jerry Pournelle started the original "Blog", except he called his site a Day Book, which is a term that I prefer. Blog just sounds so...ugly, doesn't it? See his stuff at WWW.JERRYPOURNELLE.COM.

Dr. Pournelle, for those who don't know, makes his living as a writer. He and Larry Niven, writing as a team, have several best-selling sci-fi books under their belt, including Oath of Fealty, Lucifer's Hammer, and The Burning City. Dr. Pournelle also wrote for the dead-tree version of Byte Magazine for 24 years, and continues to write for the on-line version at www.Byte.com (Subscription required).

He has a most impressive resume, running over fifty years as a real rocket scientist, political activist, and author of sci-fi and non-fiction. Besides, how many people do you know have their very first computer on display in the Smithsonian?

And no, I'm not getting paid for this plug. Dr. Pournelle doesn't even know about it. I do tend to get enthusiastic about people I admire.
