Yesterday was the day that the Moving Guys showed up to pack the joint. Four guys packed every damn thing we have into boxes. Not counting the furniture, but including my PC, there are 203 boxes! Sheesh, the amount of stuff you can acquire in six years!
At various points, I had brain freezes, and didn't tell the guys not to pack various things. Like my favorite hat, which is in a box, somewhere. My shaving gear I managed to get. I did tell them to not pack some of my clothing, a towel, this antique laptop that my sister gave me (THANKS Connie! This thing's a life-saver.), and one telephone for this joint.
So, today, the guys with the big truck showed up to load everything into the truck to take it off to the wilds of South-East Georgia. They were organizing, and loading up boxes, and all was well....
Then, disaster hit. Out in the garage, underneath the 'fridge that I use to keep my beer cool, we found a cockroach nest. AND the little bastards had gotten into some other stuff, which had got onto the truck, and skittered out where someone saw them, the sneaky little shits.
Since some other folks also had space on the truck, the guys had to off-load my stuff, and then fumigate the truck - AND, I had to fumigate my stuff in the garage. And in the house, just to be safe.
Sigh.
The guys won't be able to come back to load up the truck until Thursday, which blows my timeline all to flinders. I won't be able to start painting until Friday night, if all goes exactly perfectly. You wanna take any bets on that?
Awwww....I just knew that Mr. Murphy was alive and well, and had me dead in his sights.
