- - - - - What Won't Be In The Mercury News Tomorrow - - - - -

A suspect in a double murder was captured in Texas. (Yawn - so that's news to me here in San Jose?)

It's pretty much guaranteed that tomorrow, my local newspaper, the San Jose Mercury-News, won't have a word about this, anywhere in the issue. If they do, I'll post a polite little correction.

The suspect, Scott Eizember car-jacked Dr. Samuel Peebles and his wife Suzanne, after they stopped to help what they thought was a motorist with car trouble. Later, Dr. Peebles convinced Eizember that letting the good Dr. and Mrs. Peebles use a rest-room was a good idea. Dr. Peebles retrieved a pistol that he had hidden in the car, and shot Eizember 4 times. Eizember was subsequently hauled off to the hospital, where he's no doubt having deep, meaningful conversations with police officers.

Good shootin', Doc! Another example of the utility of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution, AND the utility of Right to Carry laws.

Unfortunately, California is not a "shall issue" state, which means getting a concealed carry permit is damned near impossible.

Fortunately, OWW and family are moving to Georgia, which is a "shall issue" state.
