In the past, I've made reference to Mr. Murphy and his Law, and the effect that the Law has on "plans". My nine-year-old asked me "What is Murphy's Law, Daddy?"
The thought flew into my head: There might be some cultural illiterate barbarian out there who doesn't know what Murphy's Law is.
Murphy's Law: "If it can go wrong, it will go wrong."
1st Corollary to Murphy's Law: "If it does go wrong, it will go wrong at the worst possible time."
I always try to keep Murphy's Law and it's Corollaries in mind whenever making plans for anything. I've had mixed success over the years. So far, Mr. Murphy's ahead on points, about 80-20.
No, nothing's gone outstandingly wrong today. But reading the newspaper and browsing the news sites always brings Murphy's Law to mind.
