In her authorized biography, backed by medical records, the record shows that Jessica Lynch was raped by her Iraqi captors. See the story HERE.
Of course, what would you expect from any army organized by Saddam Hussein? The "soldiers" of that army followed the example set by their leader, and isn't he a worthless piece of pig crap?
This is an "ancient civilization"? Doesn't sound very much like civilization to me. How's about chaotic third-world hole tying, sorta, to climb out of it's own crap?

An interesting and provacative article by Mark Steyn is HERE.
He postulates that we are now in a "cold war" with most of the old Western Alliance, mostly Germany and France.
And, that Germany, Canada, and France, in particular, have been getting a free ride on the backs of the American taxpayer.
I'm not sure that's all true, but there is certainly some tension and exasperation there.

HERE is a reminder of why combat troops aren't prepared to be an occupying force. Their training is more oriented to breaking things in the most efficient possible manner.
So, when they transition to police functions, there's a certain amount of OJT (On the Job Training) that's pretty hit-or-miss.
