- - - - - Halliburton in Iraq - - - - -
According to a senior procurement policy-maker who was in the Clinton administration, there simply isn't a lot of "cronyism" going on with the contracts that are being passed out for reconstruction in Iraq. See the whole thing HERE. Note that "HERE" is Harvard, and the original source was the Washington Post.
"Much-maligned Halliburton, a few days ago the company disclosed, as part of its third-quarter earnings report, operating income from its Iraq contracts of $34 million on revenue of $900 million -- a return on sales of 3.7 percent, hardly the stuff of plunder."
Of course, this is going to get Molly Ivins and Michael Moore all pissed off. They'll no doubt complain that "someone bought him off", and then Al Franken will get in there and claim that this guy is one of the "Big Fat Liars" that he likes to rant about. Come to think of it, isn't Michael Moore one of those "Big Fat Liars"?
Al? Hey, Al? Where'd you go, Dude?
Sounds: Kid Shows on the tube in the other room. Yech.
Attitude: "How 'bout that?"
