- - - - - No Mac for Me - - - - -
I get the occasional question "Why don't you use a Mac instead of a Windows machine?"
The usual answer: "I can build, from parts, an equivalent machine, including software, for about half the cost of a Mac."
Expanded answer is as above, plus: "Apple has always built proprietary hardware, use proprietary operating systems, and charged a bunch of money for them. Plus, I don't like Steve Jobs - he is insufferably smug."
Now, I've got a new reason. CNet is reporting that:
OS X 10.2 has security holes in it. Apple has no intention of providing patches for those holes. Apple wants you to shell out $129 to upgrade to the next release of OS X, 10.3.
See the story HERE.
Microsoft, widely reviled as a bloated capitalist monopolist money-grubbing Evil Empire, supports it's Windows OSs and Windows applications with patches, especially security patches, for five years. For freakin' FREE.
Nope. No Mac for me.
