- - - - - A Giggling Sleepover - - - - -
Amelia, our five-year-old, had a friend stay for a "sleep-over" last night. Margie, the nine-year-old was also in favor. So, Mrs. OWW and I took them out to pizza at Vito's (HERE - and Highly Recommended by OWW and Family) made up the hide-a-bed in the living room, gave them baths, and set them up with Robin Hood on the VCR. "We're going to stay awake until three o'clock" they proclaimed.
After a little giggling and whispering, they were sawing logs before 10:30.
This morning, I popped over to Safeway for fresh bagels and cream cheese, which was greeted enthusiastically by all, including Tiny the Ferocious Beast-Dog. Tiny (about 25 lbs) snatched a small piece of cream-cheese-smeared bagel that got dropped on the floor. She then tried looking pitiful, hoping for another to hit the kitchen floor. Forlorn hope, doggie!
- - - - - Things I'll Miss When We Leave California - - - - -
There are things about California that I'll miss after our move to Georgia.
First is the landscape. The Santa Clara Valley is surrounded by hills. These hills are covered by trees and brush. Within 20 miles are redwoods and the absolutely gorgeous Pacific Coast. Then there's San Francisco Bay itself.
Then there's the diversity of people. In our townhouse complex, within 200 feet of us, we have families (with kids) from Viet Nam, Laos, India, China, Africa, Germany, and three different areas of the US (including OWW & Crew). And everyone gets along. Cool.
And, the diversity in food. Within walking distance, 2 noodle houses (Viet-style), one pizzeria, one Mexican restaurant, one seafood house (Red Lobster), one chain restaurant (Baker's Square). Within five miles, 3 steak houses, two American-style coffee shops, 1 Indian restaurant, 3 more noodle houses (2 Viet-style, 1 Japanese-style), 2 Italian restaurants (1 northern Italian, 1 Sicilian), 1 German restaurant, 1 French restaurant, 1 Morroccan restaurant, and the list goes on and on.

We've been giving the toss to all kinds of "stuff". Most of it is junk - stuff we haven't touched in over a year. I've got 35-40 trash bags just full of this junk sitting in the garage, and I've got two more rooms to go.
Well, I'd better get back at it.
Sigh....
