- - - - - Yet More Calif Politics - - - - -
As of the headline in the Sunday San Jose Mercury News, there are 130 (One Hundred Thirty!) candidates to succeed Gray Davis. Late news on the radio indicates 168!
Hoooo Wheee!
I'm delighted to say that I don't know, personally (as in "I never met any of these dummies") any of the candidates. I don't know what I'd do if any of them was a friend of mine.
To say that California is the butt of jokes across the US is putting it mildly. Dave Barry, a very funny guy, has turned his "humorous" writings upon California, and has done a Really Good Job of lampooning us to fare-thee-well. Yeah, I laughed, and yeah, it hurt anyway.
As you may or may not know, I'm opposed to the recall. Mind you, I don't like Gray Davis, not one little bit. I voted agin 'im in the last election. But I don't believe that the criteria for recalling him exist. My criteria (admittedly VERY subjective) amount to "High and/or Low Crimes and Misdemeanors". So far as I know, he hasn't so much as a parking ticket in the last 20 years, he hasn't been carrying on with interns, and he hasn't clipped a dime for his own use. So the people that voted for him showed excreble judgment. This is news?
Damn Gray Davis for being dumb enough to get himself into this position, and damn all the idiots who want to run, and double-ding-dong-damn Darrell Issa for the political opportunist that he is!
