I'm going to be using two OSs for a while. I'm in the process of transitioning from W2K/XP to Linux with KDE as the desktop. Why transition? Why not just dive in and "do it to it"?
1. Hard drive space is cheap, cheap cheap - and I've got plenty that I can use.
2. Familiarity - I know Windows and it's apps. I'm having to find replacements for some of the apps that I use. And, I must admit, I've been spoiled rotten over the years. Windows applications are, in general, more polished and easier to use than the Linux equivalents. Windows will be around for me for a while anyway: Every year, at Tax Time (shudder, gag, spit), I fire up Turbo Tax. When/if Intuit gets a Roundtuit for a Linux version of TurboTax, I'll drop Windows completely, maybe.
3. Conservatism - I've spent a lifetime trying to burn bridges behind myself. Sometimes this is Really A Bad Idea. I should know better by now. In fact, I'm practicing caution, for a change. I will continue to maintain my W2K environment until I'm really sure that I'm all set.

In my sweetest voice "Here, QusieQusieQusie....don't mind that club behind my back......"
