- - - - - Back from the Great Wet North - - - - -

Went to my Dad's 80th Birthday Party on Saturday. A great time was had by all. The elder of my sisters and my cousin orchestrated the event, which went off without a visible hitch. I'm sure that there was something in the background that went wrong, but I never saw it.

Dad got himself an early birthday gift - A brandy-new Mini-Cooper! He drives it quite briskly, with verve and elan, as it is intended to be driven. Dad's a safe driver, even whilst carving corners with a little dash - I didn't feel the slightest bit of nerves. Of course, I'm inclined to be complimentary, as he was kind enough to let ME drive HIS baby! What a fun car...

We got back to SJ in the wee hours, and are still in that state known as "road buzz". We covered 900 miles, with two kids (aged 8 and 5) in the back, in just under 16 hours - an average of 56 MPH. This through some fairly cruddy weather, especially the rain in the Siskiyou Mtns. At the highest point, the snow line was a mere 200 feet higher than we were.

Yuchh! Snow looks good on postcards!

More later, maybe.
