- - - - - Shades of the Viet Nam Era - - - - -

According to this story (click HERE), an off-duty National Guardswoman was "harassed" by teenagers while she was visiting a convenience store. Stale old bat-poop, bubba, she was assaulted. I herewith enter the Rant Zone:

I remember being in the Navy from 1969 to 1973.

I remember being harassed by some of my civilian contemporaries while wearing the uniform. I remember feeling uncomfortable, even in San Diego, while wearing my uniform. I remember the occasional mutter and the once-in-a-while stare at the local super market. I remember the faces of some of the people that did the muttering and staring.

Now this, thirty years later.

Well, blunt-brain, not in my town you won't. Not in my presence. I'll be in your face in a red-hot minute. I won't be polite, either. It may get ugly and noisy. But...you will NOT run down a uniformed member of the Armed Forces in my presence. And I bet I have a better command of invective than you do, you little snot. Whoever you might be.
