I see that the Screen Actor's Guild is worried about a "return to McCarthyism". Story here.
I now enter the Rant Zone
Anyone remember Jane Fonda? Visited Hanoi in the midst of the Viet Nam war? I remember. I was in the Navy at the time.
I have not, and will not, buy or use or even look at any product Jane Fonda is involved with (movies, TV shows, exercise videos, anything at all). She has her right to free speech. And I have the right to not spend my dollars on any product she has used, endorsed, or even looked at. That's my right.
Martin Sheen, Sheryl Crow, Sean Penn, or any other person who offends me as badly as did Jane Fonda will reap the same results from me. It's their right to run their mouths in public all they want. It's my right to spend my dollars the way that I want. If they aren't included in my budget, and they are offended, guess what? I won't give a damn.
So far, Sheen, Crow, Penn, and others have not given active "aid to the enemy". I think they're fools to obliquely support a Hitler-wannabe, but they aren't criminal. But I am watching them, along with anyone else who reads the paper or watches the evening news.
And if (more likely, when) the Iraqi War starts, and if they still run their mouths foolishly, I will then evaluate my position, and vote with my dollars accordingly.
And that's my opinion.
