It now appears that military action in Iraq is just around the corner. One source that I've seen here on the web says within 36 hours. My own feeling is anytime from now to 1 week from now.
The time for hesitation, for talk, for "process" is over, no matter what the French and the Germans say. Saddam Hussein and his merry men are evil people. Without question, they are murderers. That they have waged wars of conquest upon their neighbors is not questioned. That they have used poison gases against their own people is documented. That they have repeatedly ignored their own given word to disarm under the terms of the 1991 cease-fire AND UN Resolution 1441 is a matter of record.
It's unfortunate that the UN is about to become irrelevant. All that potential to do the right thing is about to be wasted. The UN had it's chance, 12 years worth, to do it's job and make sure that Iraq as a nation, and Saddam Hussein as an individual did what they promised to do. And the UN blew it.
My thought to Our Guys - Remember what Patton said: "Make the other sad SOB die for HIS country."
