- - - - - Implications of War - - - - -

First, war in general breaks things. "Things" get destroyed. "People" are killed. That's the nature of war.

Second, the folks up at the pointy end of the stick get shot up. Even when things are going well, we're going to take casualties. Even though we're busy clobbering the Iraqis, some of our people are going to be killed, wounded, or captured. Some will be killed/wounded by "friendly" fire - which is the one that hurts the most.

Others are going to be killed/wounded/captured by the Iraqis.

There are reports from Reuters, that:

"The dead bodies were strewn on the floor in pools of blood. In the first room, at least two had wounds to the head and another had a groin wound. In the second room, a smiling Iraqi uncovered the bodies, several of which had blackened faces."

"wounds to the head" indicates to me, at least, that these folks were executed. IF that's the case, the "smiling Iraqi" who showed off the bodies has some rather pointed questions to answer, when we catch up with him.

And we WILL catch up with him.
