I don't link to other blogs. I think I might make an exception. Mr. Bill Whittle is an articulate essayist of sometimes astounding clarity. Click HERE to read his essay on the rightness of the present undeclared war in Iraq.
About the "undeclared war" thing. I'm a Viet Nam vet. USN 1969-1973. We were LIED into that sucker by Landslide Lyndon, and held there for an extra four years by Tricky Dick. I'm afraid that I don't trust politicians who say "Trust me! I know what's best for the nation and I need a blank check to get it for the nation."
If I sound a little schizo, considering my other writings on this blog, well, I am. I think we're doing the right thing. No ifs, no ands, Saddam Hussein & Co. have got to go. Alive or dead, it doesn't matter.
But since we're in a war, it should damnned well be declared a war, by the representatives of the people, and then pursued with full vigor, and the UN take the hindmost.
And......that's some of my opinion, for now. I'll expand on this more fully after I repair the hole in the ceiling that I made when I wnet off like a rocket ship and started this rant.
