The time of one week in the year seems to be the cruelest season for America's space-faring heroes.

They are heroes, make no mistake. With full awareness of the risks involved, they went forth to push the edges of knowledge. Knowing that launch, space, and return was a hazardous and life-threatening act, they went.

Heroes, each and every one.

When the Roll of Honor is called, all of these brave men and women will answer that they have
