- - - - - The Great Job Hunt - - - - -
The contract with Big Medical Equipment Company is done, with the exception of 1 - 2 hours worth of paperwork. I still have to do my last timesheet, and a couple of expense sheets for mileage and taxis and such.
This means that the Ongoing Great Job Hunt continues until I find a permanent slot, somewhere.
Job Hunting is a major-league pain in the butt. Twisted nerves, daily scanning of all the various places that might have a job posted/listed. Calling folks that I used to work with: "Hey, Fred, howya doin'? Heard about anything shakin', lately?" Sitting in the kitchen, sipping coffee and revising my resume for the 19th time. Talking to myself, and getting semi-coherent answers. Walking the ferocious dog at least 4 times daily. (Boy, when I DO start working, the dog is gonna be some kind of peeved!)
- - - - - On "Blogging" - - - - -
One of the sites that I visit regularly is Daynotes.Org, in particular Jerry Pournelle, John Dominik, Robert Bruce Thompson, and Brian Bilbrey. In part because they sometimes have technologically important things to say, in part because they are catalysts for further thought of my own. There is now some debate as to whether or not a "blog" such as this one (which is hosted for free, at no cost to me) is equivalent to their sites (which they pay for). (Late flash: Mr. Thompson, apparantly peeved by all this, has had his link removed from Daynotes.Org).
In my opinion, these places are equivalent. The main point of sites like this, and Daynotes, is content. The content may be trivial - most of my stuff IS trivial, of interest only to me and (maybe) my family and friends. I post it out here to satisfy myself. If someone likes it and/or hates it enough to say something about it, well, there's my email link over there on the left, underneath the "Archive" links. I don't bother with a counter, because for this, the number of "hits" means nothing to me. Some of the stuff that I've seen on Daynotes is certainly trivial, though entertaining. Things about dogs, amateur astronomy, computers, public policy, guns, domestic politics, business, history, science fiction, demographics, job hunting (see above), moving one's possessions from point A to point B, house-cleaning, and the list goes on.....
Some of this stuff is of interest to me, some not. Some is entertaining, some not. But.....
IT'S ALL CONTENT
