- - - - - What's a BLOG, and Who Cares? - - - - -
I see that Chris Ward-Johnson (see his ramblings here) and Robert Bruce Thompson (see his immortal prose here, and scroll down to Sunday) have a sorta-kinda problem with a "blog".
As you read this, keep in mind that I do read the posts of these two gents on a fairly regular basis, because I'm entertained and sometimes pick up the odd bit of useful information and/or they manage to raise my blood pressure a notch or two (it does take some doing, but it can be done!).
For Mr. Ward-Johnson, I don't follow ANY link unless it shows up in a fashion that can be read by me before I go there. In IE, that's in the bottom left. Links that go to http://www.nymphospellingteachersfrommars.com are usually passed up. Unless I know one of them, which I don't, and never have, even when I was much younger, darnitallanyway!
For Mr. Thompson, about your comment "Blogs are generally silly, and in my opinion the word itself is ugly and demeaning.", uhh..."What's your point?" I do not insist that you read my immortal prose, and if you do anyway, you don't have to take it seriously, and if do that, you don't have to like it. They're my words, Bubba!
The service I use (blogger.com) is kind enough to put my immortal words out there for zero-zip-nada cost to me. IF I ever gather a following, AND IF I feel like posting useless amateur photos of dogs, domiciles, and dying/dead automobiles, THEN I might actually pay for a real web site to please my legions of fans/followers. Until then, I'll pop this stuff out there, with occasional political rants and/or commentary, as I see fit.
So, that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.

We took the Ferocious Beast (a 7-month old 20-lb mix of Basenji and something else, sorta, we think) out for a long walk in the local park. We being SWMBO, and two little girls aged 4 and 8. We came home tired, muddy, dirty, and happy. Ferocious Beast (answers to "Tiny", with great body shaking wags of tail) and children are now sleeping, and SWMBO and my down-trodden self are about to be.
In case I don't get back to you all.....
Have a happy and prosperous New Year.
